About Me
I'm Michelle, a lifelong learner and special educator.
My expertise in compliance (IDEA, Section 504 and EL) and RTI system implementation is perfect for any school or LEA searching for technical assistance or additional capacity to ensure all the details are in place for interventions & specialized instruction to impact students positively. If you are looking to build capacity of internal team members, I can offer LEA and/ or school leader coaching to teach staff how to design and implement high-quality services in both inclusive and pullout settings.
My Story
I believe an inclusive education can change any child's life.
I have dedicated the past 16 years of my career to serving in PS-8 Title 1 public schools, teaching and leading in Arizona and Washington, DC. I have served as a Special Education Teacher, Special Education Coordinator, Assistant Principal, LEA Director of Special Populations and LEA Senior Director of Student Support, and in every scenario or problem I solve, I ask myself: What will make the biggest impact for children? My initial role as a Teach For America Corps Member allowed me to cultivate this commitment while pursuing my Master's in Special Education at Arizona State University.

I also led my charter network in Washington, DC to expand their continuum of services in the years leading up to and beyond the COVID pandemic with an emphasis on inclusive programming no matter how severe a student's disability may manifest in the school setting. I bring experience with evaluating current programming and offering multiple pathways for improving access to general education for all learners and changing mindsets for the adults who serve them (the most important part!). In my final year as a team member, my peers honored me with the annual Values Award as a departing reminder of my lasting impact as a hard worker, eternal optimist, and problem-solver.
